I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

This book is about a girl whose birth name is Marguerite Ann Johnson and basically her life journey until age 16. Her parents got divorced when she was three and her mother got her and her big brother to Stamps, Arkansas by train where they live with their grandmother Annie Henderson who they call Momma. During her life, she goes through many struggles both emotional and physical. I don't want to say to much and give anything away because I really think you should read this book. Honestly, I didn't really like it as first but as I got towards the middle of it, it got really interesting and a bit odd but it's okay because I'm weird ^_^;
I admire her because through all the troubles she had in her life, she never gave up and she held onto her faith. She had some downfalls but in the end, she stayed strong. I think you'll really like this book, but I have to warn you. It's a bit inappropriate at some parts so I wouldn't recommend it to little kids. It would probably be a better read for high school students. Keep in mind that the setting of the story is during a time where racism is exposed a lot. Have fun reading this book :D

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp 2010

Okay, so the past 11-ish days, I've been at this camp called Blue Lake Fine Arts Camps and it's in Twin Lake Michigan. It's kind of like a music camp but it has art, Shakespear, dance, etc. It's kind of like school because you have classes to go to at a certain time everyday and you can't skip them or ELSE! DUN DUN DUN!! But yeah. I went there because I got a $500 scholarship because I got accepted to this All-State Honors Orchestra (in Michigan) held in Grand Rapids and so I automatically got $500 scholarship for Blue Lake. Also because my mom wanted me to and so did my friend.
The thing I liked about it was that it was in Michigan so I didn't have to go TOO far and I didn't have to pay too much because of the scholarship. I also made new friends and I met at least three people who are from Ann Arbor and are going to my high school which is good because I'm gonna be a loner there XD. It was a fun experience and I feel like I gained from it but I'm not really sure what I gained. It had a steady schedule so I wasn't entirely confused the whole time. I also was placed in a new unit which had new cabins and bathrooms which was GREAT because usually the showers are crappy as butt.
What I didn't like about it was that it was too long. It was at least 10-11 days which is poopy for me because I missed two weeks of church and I HATE missing church. It just doesn't feel right to miss church to me. I got homesick and I didn't feel like doing anything because I constantly had to do the same thing everyday and it was boring. Also, there wasn't really a dress code so all the girls wore uber short shorts, trying to impress the guys and crap because there was Camper Dance and the girls and guys were trying to get dates and I was just there thinking that this was a waste of time. And the people there were really strict about the uniform. I guess that they kind of have the right to be because Blue Lake as been the same for 44 years but still, cut us some slack. I thought the food was pretty good but the water was from the well so I didn't drink much water. AND, we also had to wake up at 6 AM and sleep at like 9:00-9:30 PM =.=;
OVERALL, it was fun, but too long >.<  If it was like Monday to Friday, I would definitely go next year.

ALSO, Blue Lake had an international exchange program which allowed you to go to Europe for about three weeks with Blue Lake and have probably once in a lifetime changes. I auditioned for it but I probably won't get accepted to it because my audition/interview stunk. And it'll probably cost too much anyways so yeah. It's sad ): Plus, I'll probably get too homesick. I'll be like maybe halfway around the world for a month without my family TT^TT. I don't know how I'll be able to survive college HAHAHA :D

Thanks For The Memories by Cecelia Ahern

I really like this book because it has a really good plot and it's not like those teenage cheesy romance books. This book is about mainly two people, Joyce Conway and Justin Hitchcock. Joyce Conway was married and got into a terrible accident which caused her to lose her baby while she was pregnant. She survived the accident but after getting out of the hospital, she divorced her husband and has been getting weird senses of deja vu and has her feeling that the life she is living is not hers. Justin Hitchcock is a divorced man who has been chasing his ex-wife and daughter from Chicago to London but is now hopelessly lonely and lectures college students in Dublin. He decides to donate blood and after his decision, a few weeks or even a couple months after, he has been getting anonymous gifts and thank-you notes. All I'm going to say is that these two people are connected in one special way and I think it's not really possible but it seems so real.

I really don't think I should say anything more because I don't want to ruin the book for you if you are going to read it but I highly recommend you read this book. But keep in mind that this is an adult bestseller so you'll have to be mature about things that are said in this book. But other then that, I think this is one of my favorite books and I am SO glad I bought it at my school book fair.
I'm also thinking about reading other books by Cecelia Ahern such as P.S. I Love You (which is a movie now) and The Gift.
I'm excited to read them! YAY! :D

7/1/10

HAPPY JULY :3
OMG, it's almost the fourth of July and this year, it's on a Sunday. I don't remember that ever happening but yeah, I'm looking forward to it..sort of ^^
So today, my sisters and I cleaned our rooms hahaha. Our rooms were so messy so we just decided to clean it finally. I like it clean and I want to keep it this way haha.
Can you believe it? I didn't photoshop today! *GASP* and you know yesterday, I said I was working on another piece but I decided to discard it. I just stopped being in that photoshopping phase haha. *SIGH* It only lasted two days but oh well! I got a lot of work done. It was fun while it lasted but I'll probably still photoshop once in a while but I won't be spending my whole day doing it. Anyways, today, nothing really big happened. It was just another day but the weather was beautiful :3 and it was really peaceful in the house today ^^ I wish it was like this everyday haha. Well, I guess I'll talk to you tomorrow then. Goodnight :)

6/30/10

Today, my family and I. excluding my big sister because she was at summer school, went to this golfing range. Golfing is hard because you need to put a lot of effort and patience into it, but at least the weather was really nice. Also today, I photoshopped, AGAIN hahaha. I'll show you another picture.

This is another "Before and After" picture. This girl was on the T.V show "America's Next Top Model" and she won! So she's a model now ^^
I made another one :

This girl is a celebrity named Amanda Bynes.:) Aren't I just so good? ㅋㅋㅋ
I'm photoshopping another picture at the moment heehee :) But it's late right now so I'm going to continue photoshopping it tomorrow. *YAWN* I'm so tired. Tomorrow, I promise to blog about my day before it's 11 PM or even 10 PM. Or maybe even 9 PM *GASP* Anyways, I'll talk to you tomorrow. GOODNIGHT :)

OH MY GOODNESS [ 6/29/10 ]

OH MY GOODNESS! I HAVE NOT BEEN ON EGLOOS FOR SUCH A LONG TIME :O
Anyways, yesterday, my mom made me set some goals and if I keep these goals until school starts again, she'll buy me a guitar. :D YAY! I already have a guitar but it's so worn out. My goals are to read 4 books a month ( one book per week ), learn 5 SAT words a day, write in my egloos everyday and read a Korean book in a month. I have to started studying Korean because I'm not really good at it. ㅠ.ㅠ;

So today was a pretty good day. I didn't go anywhere today but I like being at home :). UGH! My teeth hurt so much! Yesterday I went to the orthodontist and since I have a gap between my two front teeth, they're trying to cover it up. However in the process of that, it's giving me so much pain! It makes it hard for me to eat but I LOVE to eat ㅠ.ㅠ;; Today, when my big sister went to summer school, I played Sims 3. I LOVE SIMS 3! IT MIGHT BE MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIMES! Until maybe Sims 4 comes out but I don't if it will or what it'll be like. I'm sad though because Sims 3 is on my big sister's laptop so when she is going to go back to Wisconsin for college, I won't be able to play anymore. WAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Unless my mom buys it for me. *HINT HINT* Also today, I photoshopped alot. It's SO fun but it's kind of complicated and sometimes it takes a long time so you have to have a lot of patience. As you can see, I attached a picture I photoshopped today. The one on the left was what it was before and the one of the right was the result. Isn't that COOL?!

Okay. I'll show you another picture I photoshopped today.

SEEEEEEE?!!!?! AREN'T I SO GOOOD?!? HAHAHA! Actually, I had a lot of help doing these pictures. I went to this website, http://swimchick.net/. It taught me how to do both these pictures. And yes, the second picture I attached is BoA ^^.
It might not be fun for you but it's VERY fun for me. I could do it all day. Now that I think about it, I think this is the only productive thing I did today. OH NO! I'll be better tomorrow hahaha! GOODNIGHT :)

"Things Not Seen" - Andrew Clements

"Things Not Seen." is about Robert Phillips (From "Things Hoped For.") and his adventure in Chicago, Illinois. One morning, he takes a hot shower inthe dark like he does every morning. He says it's like his daily routine or his extra minutes of sleep. You know how the mirror in your bathroom fogs up after a good, hot shower? Well, same thing happened with him. Except you don’t realize that you turned invisible like he did! He rushed downstairs to tell his parents. At first they don’t believe him but then they also start to freak out about it. Unfortunately, his parents had other plans but first, his mother called the school and lied saying that he is sick with the flu. His parents left for work and left him alone. Because of this, Robert got mad for just leaving him alone, while he is invisible and has no idea what to do, and so he goes outside all dressed up. Since he's not transparent, he can still cover himself up. He soon realizes that his parents got into a car crash. Nobody yet knows about Bobby's invisibility and they aren't planning to tell anyone either. Since Bobby's mom is pretty much the only one that’s conscious from the recent car accident, she lies and tells the hospital that Aunt Ethel is watching over Bobby now, except Aunt Ethel lives in Florida. Smart eh? Bobby then bumps into a blind girl named Alicia. They soon become close friends when they meet again at a library. She finds out about Bobby and him being invisible and so does her parents. Her dad and Bobby's dad are both scientists so they work together to find the cure for Bobby and both of their mom's love English literature. This book is fun to read because there is so much suspension. Remember how Bobby's parents don’t want anyone to know? Well sometimes, if feels like the secrets slipping and sometimes it actually is. But, I guess you'll just have to read to find out how everything ends.

"Things Hoped For" - Andrew Clements

"Things Hoped For" is a book about a 17-year-old girl named Gwen and her adventures in New York City. She is very skilled at the violin and is auditioning in New York. That's why she is living there with her grandfather. However one day, her grandfather disappears leaving just a phone message. It tells Gwen to not tell anyone about his disappearance and to not worry about him but concentrate on her auditions so she does. Later she meets Robert (From the book "Things Not Seen". Also the second book I have read.) and he is also having trumpet auditions. Robert and Gwen become really close but not too close. After all,Robert as a girlfriend. A blind one at that.
    Then there's tension. Gwen's grandfather's brother, Uncle Hank,want him to sell his house for money. However since Gwen's grandfather is gone, they at first don't know how to keep it a secret from him.After all, Uncle Hank tries to barge into Gwen's grandfathers house. Fortunately, Robert finds a good way to keep Uncle Hank away from the house until Gwen's grandfather comes back. But the question is, how long will they be able to keep this up as a secret?

9/11/09 - Journal Entry #1

     Today, as you should all know, is 9/11, a very important yet terrifyingly sad day. Today in history class, I watched this video about the actual 9/11, almost live, but not exactly. There was also a narrator who told us about what happened on the plane while it was going toward the World Trade Centers. There were hijackers and stabbed everyone and went into the cockpit and took charge. About the same thing happened in the other 3 planes. The narrator also told us many other things that has happened during the plane was being hijacked and I felt so scared.
     I feel like I finally understand what 9/11 was. At first, when I was younger, I though 9/11 was just about 2 planes crashing into the Twin Towers (World Trade Centers) and nothing happened after that. However, I learned many things today and I'm glad I did. I didn't exactly want to see the horrors but I thought it was important to know almost exactly what had happened. I also never knew there were 4 planes and that 1 of them crashed into the Pentagon and that the other 1 failed but crashed into a rural area (at least that's better than crashing into anything else important, like maybe the White House o.o). And then the 2 planes crashing into the towers. Wow, just thinking back at it now, it's amazing how it affected so many lives. It actually kind of affected mine after just watching a movie about it. I can't imagine how it would have actually felt if I saw it LIVE, not on the T.V but if I was there, standing out the street, with the ashes and smoke closing in on me and the people around me as the towers fall.
   Anyways, I'm hoping to change the subject and maybe talk about something not as depressing.

   So my day went well. I woke up at 6:50-7:00 AM again. I wish I could wake up earlier but I guess I'm just either a deep sleeper or I just need to get more sleep. Who knows? Anyways, I went to school and that went fine too, until the whole 9/11 movie thing and now we're getting back into that subject so I'm just going to move on to another:]. After school, my mom picked me up from school because I had to quickly get home, and pack my things for a math class I have with my tutor. I'm actually kind of happy of where I stand right now in math because my teacher said that I basically learned everything in Algebra 1, but need to practice more and get the concept written on stone in my head:). And I also have to pass this final he is giving me in about two weeks so wish me good luck:). Then I'm on my way to Algebra 2, which is I think 9th grade math. Ooh~ exciting. Hahaha:]~. After my lesson, my mom and I went to the library to return my math book because apparently I didn't need it anymore, but then I got excited because this was the perfect opportunity to get a book from this series I like. It's called The Clique Series. I'm on the fifth book (I think), The Pretty Committee Strikes Back. I'm trying to read the whole series, and then I'll tell you about it. It's really interesting:]. And so I got my book, went home, and started reading like crazy. :D. Then we (Binna, my dad and I) started to paint the deck outside my house because we only did about half of it last time, but even thought we painted today, we still need to do more. More details to be exact. Later, we all came in to eat dinner and I went upstairs to my laptop (in Binna's room) and watched Glee. :DDD. It's now part of my Favorite Show collection. I LOVE IT! You should watch it. It's only up to about the second episode I think. Well I watched the second episode on Fox.com, but Glee is a WHOLE other story :].

     Well, today I can surely say that today was a good day because I finally got the book I wanted, I finally watch the second episode of Glee (I couldn't last time because my computer was too slow D:<), and plus, it's Friday:D.
     I know I'm typing this really late but that's what journals are for^^ so I hope you all have/had a goodnight and I'll type to you tomorrow:]

Nory Ryan's Song - By: Particia Reilly Giff

        This book starts out with the setting of the Great Hunger of Ireland. Millions of people died during that time. Nory is a 12 year old girl and her family started out on Maidin Bay generations ago. They once owned the land they lived in and the house that they built until an Englishman, Lord Cunningham owns the land and forces everyone to pay taxes. However if you could not afford to pay the taxes, Lord Cunningham would throw you out of the home and you would be homeless. Of course that the people of Ireland think it's unfair because the land was originally theirs, but it is unfair. Nory has to go through many dangers and fear, and so does her family and friends.
        This book has a lot of adventures, horrors, and danger. I think this is an interesting book, because it shows a lot about the past even though it is fictionalized. I think it was fun to read with all the excitment and cliffhangers. Altogether, I recommend you this book. And remember, dont skip to the end :D, it's so good.
